Week 11 in Review

Over the weekend, Tyler finished assembling the upper tiers for my raised gardening beds. This is about the most notable thing that happened – it seemed like we were busy this entire week but have little to show for it. Mostly, I was disheartened by the disappointment of the imperfect install of our kitchen counters and still recovering from the marathon priming sessions I ran last week.I spent at least an hour on the phone every day this week, working through the process to get our countertops fixed. I also ordered a replacement faucet for the kitchen sink. By Thursday, Top Master arrived at our house to remove the two sections of counter with issues and ship them to Kansas City. They will be reinstalled on Saturday – the beginning of Week 12! Tyler began cutting shoe molding and finished the cuts for the master bedroom. It’s now sitting on the floor looking sad while I conquer a mountain of other tasks, including sanding down the decorative faux finish I did on the dining wall in a moment of poor judgement last summer. Our house is still empty upstairs – there will still be too much painting and sanding ahead to bother returning any furniture. The neighbors are beginning to be curious about what we’re doing in here, I think, especially since half the windows are bare.

Week 11

Saturday April 13 – Friday April 19

Tyler is quickly becoming a pro at cutting shoe molding.

We needed shoe molding to cover the gap left after our flooring install - but I like the dimension it adds. Great way to upgrade the look of your house for a couple hundred dollars.

  • Coordinated the re-installation of our countertops
  • Purchased a replacement kitchen faucet
  • Cut shoe molding for the master bedroom
  • Sanded the dining wall
  • Sanded the wood cap on the half wall again (again!)
  • Found our backsplash tile (probably)
  • Finalized plans for trimming out the back of the bar, column, and assorted end panels in the kitchen
