Week 9 in Review

We hit another major milestone this week! Get ready for this news – our house now has floors. Real floors, not subfloors! I was out of town the day of the install and I have to thank my dad and Tyler for staying up REALLY late the night before cleaning the floors and scraping some random caulk and stuff off the subfloor so everything would lay smoothly. After working all weekend on the house, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.
S&S Flooring was the local subcontractor for Home Depot and they did a wonderful job. We were so impressed with their efficiency, politeness, and quality that I’d highly recommend anyone in the Wichita area go directly to them for your laminate, hardwood, or tile needs.
I spent a fair amount of time vacuuming and steam mopping the floors. Although the installation crew left things “broom swept”, the dust from the cuts is so fine that it took several once-overs to get completely clean. So far, I LOVE the Pergo we chose. It looks great, feels great, and has enough grain to feel really substantial.
Before the floors were installed, dad and Tyler had to finish any floor-related projects, including moving a vent in the dining room and adding an electrical outlet in the middle of the living room floor so I can plug my table lamps in discretely. ; )
They also added (count ’em!) 6 new recessed lights in my office area – 4 in the main room and 2 in the new “cloffice” nook — and they wired them so that the main light, 4 can lights, and closet lights are all on separate switches. As if this were not badass enough, they also added an electrical outlet in the “cloffice” so we can plug in our electronics without running cords. This room will look so designer when it’s done. Right now, it’s just an empty room… but I can see the potential!
